The Chinese Military Will Work With SCO Member States to Broaden and Deepen Defense Cooperation
6月26日下午，國(guó)防部舉行例行記者會(huì)，國(guó)防部新聞發(fā)言人張曉剛大校答記者問(wèn)。
記者：據(jù)報(bào)道，上海合作組織成員國(guó)國(guó)防部長(zhǎng)會(huì)議在山東青島舉行。請(qǐng)介紹中國(guó)軍隊(duì)參與上合組織防務(wù)安全合作情況。
Question: It is reported that the SCO Defense Ministers' Meeting is held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Please brief us on the Chinese military’s participation in the SCO defense and security cooperation.
張曉剛：6月25日至26日，上海合作組織成員國(guó)國(guó)防部長(zhǎng)會(huì)議在山東青島舉行，中國(guó)國(guó)防部長(zhǎng)董軍主持會(huì)議并發(fā)言。今年中國(guó)是上合組織輪值主席國(guó)，此次防長(zhǎng)會(huì)是落實(shí)輪值主席國(guó)工作的重要活動(dòng)。
Zhang Xiaogang: The SCO Defense Ministers' Meeting is held in Qingdao, Shandong Province from June 25 to 26. China's Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun presided at the meeting and delivered a speech. This year, China is the rotating chair of the SCO, and hosting the Defense Minister’s Meeting is an important activity to perform its duties.
在上合組織建立發(fā)展過(guò)程中，防務(wù)安全合作發(fā)揮著特殊重要作用，中方積極推動(dòng)戰(zhàn)略溝通、深化務(wù)實(shí)合作、創(chuàng)新合作模式。一是組織或參加國(guó)防部長(zhǎng)會(huì)議、軍隊(duì)總參謀長(zhǎng)會(huì)議、國(guó)際軍事合作部門(mén)會(huì)議等，與各成員國(guó)進(jìn)行溝通交流、凝聚共識(shí)，在國(guó)際和地區(qū)安全問(wèn)題上發(fā)出“上合聲音”。二是主辦并多次參加“和平使命”系列聯(lián)演、“和平號(hào)角”軍樂(lè)節(jié)、專(zhuān)家工作組會(huì)議，開(kāi)展軍事醫(yī)學(xué)、軍事交通、軍事翻譯等專(zhuān)業(yè)交流，各領(lǐng)域合作不斷走深走實(shí)。三是首倡并舉辦上合組織高級(jí)軍官研修班、中青年軍官交流、“上合組織+”青年智庫(kù)沙龍，豐富各成員國(guó)軍隊(duì)人員交流形式渠道，不斷增進(jìn)友誼互信。
Throughout the process of the establishment and development of the SCO, defense and security cooperation has played a role of special significance. The Chinese side has actively promoted strategic communication, deepened substantive cooperation, and initiated many cooperation programs. First, we have organized or participated in the Defense Minister’s Meeting, the Chiefs of General Staff Meeting, the meeting of International Military Cooperation Organs, etc. Through these events, we have communicated and exchanged views with all member states, reaching consensus and promoting the “SCO voice” on international and regional security issues. Second, we have hosted the “Peace Mission” joint exercise, the “Fanfare for Peace” military tattoo and the Expert Working Group meetings, participated in them multiple times, and conducted professional exchanges on military medicine, military transportation, military translation and other areas. Cooperation in various fields has been deepened and solidified. Third, we have initiated and held the SCO Seminar for Senior-Level Officers, the SCO Junior-and-Middle-Level Officers’ Exchange, and the “SCO+” Young Scholars’ Salon, all of which have enriched the channels for exchanges among service members of the SCO member states, and strengthened their friendship and mutual trust.

United in cooperation, our journey will be far and steady. The Chinese military will work with militaries of other SCO member states to carry forward the Shanghai Spirit, further broaden and deepen defense cooperation, and join hands in building a common home featuring solidarity and mutual trust, peace and tranquility, prosperity and development, good-neighborliness and friendship, and fairness and justice, thereby contributing to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
